United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women's Purpose

The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

President's Bible Verse for 2008

Acts 20:24
"The most important thing is that I complete my mission, the work the Lord Jesus gave me."

2008 Theme
"Publish Glad Tidings"

In 1859, The Ladies Aid Society (LAS) was formed to assist in raising funds for a church building. In 1972, Women's Society of Christian Service (WSCS) was chartered as United Methodist Women (UMW).

Some of the activites of the UMW are a Salad Luncheon in May, Harvest Tea in October and a Soup Supper and Cookie Walk in November. They are also responsible for funeral luncheons, altar flower deliveries to shut-ins, bulletin board displays and sponsoring missionaries. The meeting schedule is different for each circle and there are a variety of interesting programs at the meetings.
